Bag Yourself a Celebrity Home
Who wouldn't want to live in a former
celebrity home? Gaze at the same cracked tile in the bathroom,
whilst your posterior graces the same lavatory seat theirs
once warmed. Dust a mantlepiece once honoured by awards and
photographs of esteemed chums. Chop onions whilst taking in
the same magnificent views a teary pair of famous eyes once
took in. If you're looking for a new house, and money is no
object, you too could walk the halls of the rich and famous.
Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbuster, Blues Brother
and all round 80's legend, has put a second LA home on the
market. Last year, Aykroyd and his actress wife Donna Dixon
sold their house in the Hollywood Hills to Beverly D'Angelo
for £1.9m. Now they are looking for £1.3m for
a 4,176 sq ft, three-bedroom house, complete with smoking
room and mural-covered dining room. They are also looking
for £3.5m for their New York condo.
For rock fans, the former home of legendary
drummer Jim Capaldi is also up for sale. The Old Parsonage
in Marlow, Buckinghamshire - where 60's band Traffic wrote
most of their early music - is on the market for £3m.
The late Capaldi, who died of stomach cancer three years ago,
played with many of the rock glitterati, including George
Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and fellow Traffic-member
Steve Winwood.
Of course, celebrities themselves are
far from immune to the lure of bagging a famous home. One
Spanish villa now on the market in LA has not one but four
famous former residents. The 3,938 sq ft, four-bedroom house
went up for sale on February 28, and boasts John Barrymore,
Andre Previn, Lee Marvin and James Coburn among its previous
inhabitants. The recently restored house has six baths, a
library, a media room, a den, a separate guest unit, antique
French pavers, high beamed ceilings, extensive tile work,
three fireplaces, French doors opening to landscaped patios
and a master bedroom suite with a fireplace, patio, spa and
outside shower. For all this, and the priceless (to some)
cache attached to owning a celebrity home, you'll part with
no less than $3.2m.

price tags, Alliance & Leicester could help you out with
